Meet Our Dental Team
Meet Dr. Philip Jackson
Dr. Philip Jackson grew up one of seven children in the small town of Hampton. He knew for years that a career in health care was his calling, and he’s truly passionate about helping patients have their best smiles and relieving their discomfort.
After receiving his chemistry degree from Clemson University, he went on to earn his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree and complete his General Practice residency at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). Dr. Jackson then moved to Columbia to open his own practice.
Instilled with a love of learning from an early age, Dr. Jackson enjoys furthering his knowledge of dentistry by attending continuing education classes and keeping up with the latest industry research. He has seen a lot of great changes in dental technology and techniques and has enjoyed incorporating them into The Smile Studio to benefit his patients. Dr. Jackson is a member of the following organizations:
Dr. Jackson and his wife, Ginger, love spending time with their big family that includes their four wonderful children: Rebekah, Rachel, Kenzie, and Hunter; his daughter-in-law; two sons-in-law; and ten grandchildren. Meet Dr. Charles Roy Buist
Dr. Buist was born in Charleston. He received his Bachelor of Science in chemistry from Auburn University and his Doctor of Dental Medicine from the University of Alabama School of Dentistry. Since then, he has also achieved the following credentials:
- Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Implantology/Implant Dentistry
- Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry
- Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantology
While he has traveled and practiced extensively throughout the country, Dr. Buist is fiercely proud of his South Carolina heritage. But if you ask him what he is most proud of, he will tell you, “My son. Raising him has been the greatest honor I’ve been given in life.” A highly credentialed family man, Dr. Buist makes a fantastic addition to The Smile Studio family.Make Appointment with Dr. Buist
Carol – Dental Hygienist
Carol followed in her mother’s footsteps when she chose a career in dental hygiene. She received her B.S. degree (summa cum laude) from the University of Maryland at Baltimore. Her dental career includes a variety of dental settings, from a periodontal office to a general practitioner office to a stint as a fluoride sales representative.
Carol has been a hygienist at The Smile Studio since 1995. After 20 + years, she still loves coming into the office every day and considers both the staff and patients as part of her extended family. She takes great pride in providing the highest quality care in a compassionate and professional manner.
Carol is married to her high school sweetheart, Chuck, and they have three grown children: Danny, Chase, and Connie. Outside of the office, Carol is a volunteer swim coach for Special Olympics. She also enjoys sailing with her husband, reading, hiking, and most of all, spending time with her family.
Pam – Dental Hygienist
Pam grew up in a small town in South Carolina. Like many other people, she grew up afraid of the dentist because she had terrible experiences as a child. When she was a teenager, she met a caring dentist and his team who treated her with patience and kindness. After a few visits there, Pam realized that she too wanted to help people with their fear of the dentist.
Pam received her Associate’s Degree in Dental Hygiene at Midlands Technical College in Columbia. She has been a hygienist for 20+ years and has spent the last 10 years at The Smile Studio. Pam loves to smile and laugh. She has developed long-lasting friendships with her patients. With each patient, Pam is grateful for the opportunity to help them maintain a healthy smile.
Pam lives in Lugoff with her two beautiful daughters. She spends many hours at the softball field or at volleyball games, watching her girls do what they love to do. Even with a busy schedule, she enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and church family.
Peggy – Dental Hygienist
Peggy, a devoted dental hygienist, joined The Smile Studio in 2017. She graduated from the Medical College of Georgia where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene. Peggy is passionate about providing optimum care tailored for each individual patient as well as a relaxing experience that leads to a lasting friendship. She loves to make people laugh and bring a positive light to every situation.
Originally from North Augusta, Peggy currently lives in Lexington. She and her husband, Brandon, enjoy outdoor activities such as golfing, camping, and playing with their dog, Ollie.
Nicole – New Patient Coordinator
Originally from Maryland, Nicole moved south to attend the University of South Carolina and she’s made her home here ever since. She has been with The Smile Studio since 2001 and has enjoyed watching the practice grow throughout the years. Nicole feels lucky to be able to say she has so many patients that she now calls friends.
Nicole and her husband, Mike, are the proud parents of three children: two girls and a boy. In her free time, she enjoys working out, attending sporting events, and boating on Lake Murray with her family and friends.
Stacey – Treatment Coordinator
Stacey was born in Columbia and grew up in the Chapin/Irmo area where she currently resides. She has been with The Smile Studio for nine years. Stacey feels so fortunate that she has met so many wonderful people while working as a treatment coordinator for Dr. Jackson.
Stacey and her husband, Brad, have three wonderful children and one beautiful granddaughter who keep them extremely busy. In their free time, they enjoy entertaining with family and friends and creating woodworking projects.
Angie – Billing/Insurance Coordinator
Angie is originally from Dallas, TX and has lived in Lexington since 2001. Since joining The Smile Studio in 2012, she has been helping patients with their insurance and billing needs. Angie has truly enjoyed getting to know our patients who have become friends as well.
When Angie is not working, she and her husband, Greg, stay busy with their children, Rilee and Braycen. On the weekends, they can often be found at a cheerleading competition or on Lake Murray soaking up the sun.
Candice — Patient Coordinator
Candice joined The Smile Studio in the spring of 2016. She has a strong background in high-end customer service and has truly enjoyed watching how a great smile can change a person’s life. She currently lives in Irmo with her husband, Neal. During her free time, you can find Candice gardening in her backyard, enjoying a Sunday brunch with her husband, or hiking at a state park with her dog, Winnie.
Wendy – Dental Assistant
Wendy is a Columbia native. She received her certification as a dental assistant from Midlands Technical College and has been with The Smile Studio since 2004. She is the proud mother of two grown sons, Brandon and Nicholas. Her family and faith are very important to her, and she is actively involved at One Life Church. Wendy loves the outdoors and goes to the coast as much as she can. She is also a local concertgoer and enjoys the music scene in the Columbia area.
Kim — Dental Assistant
Kim is a Columbia native and has lived here most of her life. She graduated from Midlands Technical College with her dental assisting degree and has been a dental assistant for 15 years. She has worked at The Smile Studio since 2016. Kim loves helping patients achieve their dental goals. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing someone smile and knowing that you had a part in helping them! Kim adores working with the team at The Smile Studio and considers them all as part of her extended family.
Becca — Dental Assistant
Becca grew up in the small town of Lugoff. She received her dental assisting certificate at Palmetto School of Career Development and has been with The Smile Studio since 2017. Becca loves to laugh and considers herself one of the top three funniest people she knows. She likes that she can use this trait as a way to make patients feel at ease while at the dental office. She believes everyone should live their lives to the fullest and smile! In her free time, Becca enjoys spending time with family and friends.
